Existing pocket calculators at the time could only perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. In February 1972, HP entered the eletronic calculator market with a pocket-sized calculator that not only offered "the usual" four fuction, but it was the first ever to offer full logarithmic and trigonometric capabilities. The calculator included five MOS chips manufactured by AMI* and Mostek Inc.
